Chinese enterprises continue to expand their presence in Africa’s infrastructure sector, sealing another major cement project worth USD 240 million to power Nigeria’s rapid construction development.
Recently, Nigeria’s BUA Cement Plc signed a key cooperation agreement with CBMI Construction Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese engineering contractor. Under the USD 240-million deal, CBMI will build a brand-new 3-million-ton-per-annum cement production line, also known as the Sokoto Line 6, in Sokoto State, Nigeria.
The two sides share a stable 15-year long-term cooperative relationship. Over the years, CBMI has completed multiple production lines for BUA Cement, delivering a cumulative cement capacity of 14 million tons. Upon the completion and operation of the new Sokoto Line 6, BUA Cement’s total annual production capacity will reach 20 million tons.
The new project will effectively meet the booming cement demand driven by Nigeria’s fast-expanding infrastructure construction, further consolidating the long-term, profitable overseas cooperation model between Chinese building material technology and African industrial development.
