Tripartite Strategic Framework Agreement Signed; Chinese Enterprise Deeply Embeds into Nigeria’s Energy Industrial Chain

China Gas Holdings Limited recently announced that it has signed a tripartite strategic framework agreement with NNPC Limited and Peiyang Chemical Engineering Services Private Limited (PCCS) in Abuja, capital of Nigeria. The partnership will enable the enterprise to fully integrate into Nigeria’s energy industry and add momentum to China-Africa energy cooperation and Nigeria’s energy transition strategy.
Liu Mingxing, Executive Director, Chief Investment Officer and Chief Economist of China Gas, stated that Nigeria stands as a key target market in the company’s global development strategy. Leveraging its strengths in capital and technology, China Gas will roll out integrated solutions covering smart energy management and comprehensive associated gas utilization tailored to Nigeria’s energy mix, injecting green impetus into local economic and social progress.
The signing ceremony was attended by Bashir Bayo Ojuola, Managing Director of NNPC, Olalekan Ogunleye, Executive Vice President of NNPC Gas, Power and New Energy, and Ibrahim Hamza, General Manager of NNPC Gas & Power Investment Services Company.Ojuola noted that Nigeria boasts abundant natural gas reserves and is striving to monetize resources through technological innovation and international cooperation. As a world-class energy operator, China Gas enjoys outstanding strengths in gas transmission & distribution, R&D and industrial integration. NNPC values this partnership highly and expects both sides to expedite project delivery based on this agreement to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Under the agreement, China Gas, NNPC and PCCS will pool resources, technologies and industrial edges to cooperate in three core sectors:
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG): The three parties will jointly develop full-value-chain projects including LNG production from flare gas, floating LNG and large-scale onshore OKLNG projects to raise the commercial utilization rate of Nigeria’s natural gas.
Gas-fired Power Generation: They will jointly invest in high-efficiency gas power plants to ease the country’s power shortage.
Deep Processing of Natural Gas: Joint projects for gas-to-methanol and gas-to-ammonia will be launched to upgrade Nigeria’s energy sector from raw resource extraction to refined, high-value-added production.
The signing marks a major step for China Gas to expand overseas energy business and strengthen global energy collaboration, shaping a clear industrial layout in Nigeria. From cutting-edge LNG technologies and gas power infrastructure construction to deep engagement in natural gas deep processing, China Gas has woven itself into Nigeria’s whole energy industrial chain, strongly supporting the country’s Ten-Year Natural Gas Master Plan.
This cooperation represents tangible results of practical energy collaboration between China and Nigeria. It will set a valuable example for energy partnerships and common development among Global South nations.
